According to the emerging report from the Ministry of Education, primary and secondary schools in Kenya have adjusted their long holiday closing dates, with some moving them as close October 19 instead of the previously announced October 27, as per the Ministry of Education’s academic calendar. According to the report, These changes in closing date are important for preparations for national exams which our class eight and form four candidates will sit for.

All learners who are not sitting for these national exams will have to remain at their homes until January 8, 2024, when a new academic year will begin. The KIPSEA, KCPE, and KCSE exams will be done from date 5 of next month and conclude on date 1 of December 2023. According to the report from KNEC, a total of 1,415,315 candidates will be sitting for the KCPE exam, 1,282,574 for KIPSEA, and 903,260 students for the KCSE exam.

In preparation for these exams, the Kenya National Examination Council has employed 223,223 teachers to serve as monitors of these national exams, and 37,731 more have been employed as markers of these exams.
