A few years ago, seven university students went on a car trip to Kisii to celebrate their friend’s birthday. Unfortunately, all of them, except for one, died in a very bad car accident. The accident also caused the death of eight other people.

Before they died on the Kisii-Kilgoris road, five students from Kenyatta University’s main campus in Nairobi and a friend from Dedan Kimathi University in Nyeri went from the city to a party in Magena village.

At 8 o’clock, they were in a car accident with two other vehicles – a large truck and a regular car. They were all passengers in a Toyota Noah, which can hold eight people, including the person who owns it.

More friends and their host had already been taken there in another car.

Reports say that Duncan Nyanaro, a civil engineering student at Dedan Kimathi University, was driving the car during the accident.

The person driving the car with the students supposedly came from Nairobi. However, they let Nyanaro take over driving about 30 kilometers away from Kisii town.

He was one of the eight people who died. A student named Mercy Nyambeki was able to stay alive and was admitted to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The driver of the car, who worked as a mechanic in Kenyenya, was declared dead when he arrived at the hospital. The person driving the truck and the person riding with them were taken to the hospital because they were seriously hurt.
