Former Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has broken his silence few days after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said the audit of the 2022 polls, as an agenda fronted by the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance, should be dropped from the Bomas of Kenya talks with Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Gachagua who was speaking in Meru County on Sunday argued that the National dialogue Committee dO not have the capacity to audit the elections, saying there is no constitutional provision for such an exercise.

In his Tuesday interview with KTN News, Mwaura endorsed Gachagua’s sentiments, saying the electoral process to have President William Ruto in office was followed up to the Supreme Court and that exercise closed.

“In my view, we do not have to audit the elections. The results were unanimously upheld by the Supreme Court judges, President Ruto was sworn in as the Head of State and he will be attaining one year tomorrow since he assumed office.”

“Calling for the audit of the pollS like opening a Pandora box. You can see the committee is seemingly divided and here we are told that even the Azimio camp did not have agents to protect their votes.”

“It is the Azimio’s problem that they lost the elections, and therefore there is no need to audit the polls,” said Mwaura who was nominated as the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary before court declared the CAS position as unconstitutional.

Mwaura however said the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) should be handled in urgency, owing to the fact that the deadline for the boundaries delimitation is fast approaching, and also because there are sections of Kenyans who are not represented.
