The recruitment of new Kenya Defence Forces has been going on around the country and thousands of young people have presented themselves to try their luck. However, like every other year the exercise is accompanied by corrupt and fraudulent activities where people lose thousands of money. This year is is no different as some people have already fallen victim of fraud.
Bungoma county has reported one such incident after detectives drawn from the DCI received information that some police officers were stealing money from unweary locals by selling them fake recruitment papers. The detectives arrived at the recruitment camp and arrested two officers including an GSU officer who were about to receive Ksh300k from a youth. He had missed out in the recruitment and wanted to join through the back door.
The officers were waiting to receive the handsome amount of money when the detectives ambushed them. It has now been revealed that some items were recovered from the three officers including five KDF calling letters, six fingerprints, KDF identification card and two stamp pads. The three are in police custody awaiting to be taken to court. Follow the page for more news updates daily.
