After Cabinet Secretary for Trade Hon. Moses Kuria postponed the start of development projects in three counties where the opposition coalition enjoys strong support, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya alliance reacted.
On August 23, 2023, Hon Moses Kuria was scheduled to participate in a groundbreaking ceremony for the county-wide industrial park alongside Hon Gladys Wanga, the governor of Homa Bay County.
The CS was also scheduled to attend the groundbreaking ceremonies for related projects with Governors Nassir of Mombasa County and Governor James Orengo of Siaya County.
The CS made no mention of the primary justification for postponing the event or the launch date for the projects.
This comes shortly after the Nyanza region was left off the list of areas that would benefit from road improvements by the Kenya National Highway Authorities (KeNHA).
Additionally, it occurs at a time when vice president Rigathi Gachagua has threatened to suspend construction projects in the communities of lawmakers who oppose the government’s policies.
