A few Kenyan politicians first tried their hand at acting before entering politics.
Sabina Chege Jalang’o and Alfred Mutua are two examples.
1.Sabina Chege
Sabina Chege worked as a performer for a well-known TV station before serving as the Murang’a woman representative for ten years.
Sabina Chege was chosen to play Rehema in the well-known KBC TV Kiswahili soap opera Tausi.
She appeared on stage with Kiswahili scholar Dr. Kuria, now Dr. Tom Olali, when they were both students at the University of Nairobi with late actress Ashina Kibibi.
- Jalang’o
Jalang’o had to work odd jobs like comedy and acting before entering politics.
His big break came when he entered the acting world and appeared in the Citizen TV local sitcom Papa Shirandula.
3.Alfred Mutua
The former governor of Machakos and cabinet secretary was formerly an actor.
In the Cobra Squad television series, which ran on NTV for a while, Mutua played the lead role.
He entered politics after his acting career.
