President William Samoei Ruto had earlier on been accused of reintroducing fuel subsidies which he used to throw the Ex-president Uhuru Kenyatta under the bus by alleging that it was wrong for the former president to subsidize it.
After EPPRA announced that the price of fuel is brought down from KES 198 to KES 192, Kenyans from the Azimio camp blasted President William Samoei Ruto for reintroducing Uhuru Kenyatta’s fuel subsidies which he removed immediately after he was sworn into office.
However, the UDA party Secretary General Cleophas Malala has announced that what President William Samoei Ruto is doing is introducing fuel stabilization which was there during the previous administrations but did not implement it.
According to Cleophas Malala, the petroleum development levy (PDL) charge a certain amount of money when motorists buy every liter of petroleum and petroleum products.
Cleophas Malala said that PDL charges have always been charged, even during Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta’s administration, and they are purposely meant to be used when the prices of petroleum go up beyond the financial status of the motorists and Kenyans.
Instead of issuing fuel subsidies, Cleophas Malala said that Uhuru Kenyatta would have used PDL funds to lower the rates of petroleum.
However, Cleophas Malala accused Uhuru Kenyatta of misusing the funds that were meant to lower the cost of petroleum.
Instead, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta introduced a fuel subsidy which almost finished up the government coffers.
