Influencers on social media are bringing in a new brand of stardom. They are diametrically opposed to what is called “traditional celebrity.” Their big break didn’t come from a movie or a blockbuster song, nor did it come from an Olympic gold medal. They became well-known as a result of a viral blog post, video, or image.
Instagram is more than simply a venue for celebs like Azziad to offer project updates or the occasional altered selfie. It’s a tool that allows them to engage with their fans and with one another in ways that weren’t previously conceivable. People will want to follow a celebrity if they post about their relationship on social media, or even if they simply tag a rumored love interest in a photo.
Azziad became well-known after his twerking video “Utawezana Challenge” went viral.Since then, the 20-year-old content creator and actor has greatly aided her brand’s growth, acquiring followers across all of her social media platforms. In under 72 hours. Brands began calling her and offering her large sums of money for product placement. Her posts boost these firms’ sales and earn them a lot of money, so it’s no wonder that an increasing number of celebrities are using their accounts to make money.
In high school, she began participating in stage plays before joining the Hearts of Art theatrical group, where she played a variety of roles while studying broadcast journalism at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.
Every revealing celebrity post that generates favorable feedback from fans is met with criticism from detractors who accuse them of trying too hard or coming across as performative. Even Teigen, an Instagram celebrity whose popularity is primarily built on her openness on social media, has encountered blowback.The sudden celebrity had a negative impact. The trolls looked to be cruelly bullying her. They had opinions about her weight, skin color, and other ridiculous subjective criticisms that no one had asked for. Azziad became a victim of doxxing after her personal information was leaked. Her and her mother’s phone numbers were made public. Their home address was also made public.Internet celebrity is dangerous and transitory.
