The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has on Tuesday, appointed Clarence Awuor Otieno as the new Registrar of the High Court.

The appointment, which was confirmed in a statement by the JSC, takes effect from July 24, 2023, signaling a new era in Kenya’s judicial system.

Awuor’s journey in the Judiciary began in 2008 when she joined as a Resident Magistrate. Through the years, she has demonstrated exceptional dedication and skill, steadily progressing through the ranks and holding key positions such as Senior Resident Magistrate, Principal Magistrate, and Senior Principal Magistrate.

The seasoned judicial officer had been serving as the Acting Registrar of the High Court since May 31, 2023, before her appointment to the substantive position of Registrar. Her vast experience and intimate understanding of the court system make her an ideal fit for this crucial role.

Before joining the Judiciary, Awuor practiced as an Advocate at Ocharo & Company Advocates from 2004 to 2007, following her admission to the bar on December 16, 2004. Her time in legal practice contributed to shaping her expertise and insight into various legal matters.

Awuor’s academic achievements are equally impressive. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the prestigious University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the renowned Kenya School of Law. Such qualifications further bolster her capability to take on the responsibilities of overseeing the coordination of support services in all High Court stations across the country.
