Two Kenyan fishermen have been killed by the Ugandan soldiers in lake Victoria for fishing in a lake. The officers from Uganda accused the Kenyans of fishing in a lake perceived to be Ugandan and not Kenyan. This is an embarrassing incident and shameful given that deaths have occurred of innocent lives. Kenyan police have affirmed that it’s the Ugandan Soldiers who crossed into the Kenyan side.

It’s not clear as to why Ugandan soldiers have focused on harming Kenyans who are focused on fishing in a God made lake. The Ugandan government has previously alleged that lake Migingo belongs to them.
Kenyans in Lake Victoria are asking government to defend them from rogue Uganda military officers who have placed flags in the lake. Uganda has severally been accused of trying to test the Kenyan government by provoking Kenyans.
It’s clear that the duty of the Kenya Defence Forces is to protect the Kenyan borders from rogue foreign authorities including those at the border. Whether KDF will do an operation and arrest rogue Ugandan officers, let’s wait and see.
