The High Court of Kenya on Monday, 3 July gave Raila Odinga-led opposition side a boost ahead of their planned mass action against the government scheduled for 7th day of July 2023 after it declared the 50 CAS positions appointed by President William Ruto unconstitutional.
Members of Parliament allied to the former Prime Minister continue to heap praises on Judiciary, saying that they listened to the voice of the common man as well as remaining true to the laws governing the land.
Giving his opinion on the decision by the High Court to suspend the appointment of the 50 CASs’ barely a day after the verdict, Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has congratulated the court saying that it is a reflection of what the common citizen thinking about.
“I really want to congratulate the judiciary, the judges who made that decision, it is a reflection of what the common citizen was thinking about because there is no need of us wasting more money on something that is unconstitutional.”
Babu who was speaking on Tuesday during the commissioning of classrooms at Gituamba Primary School in Kasarani Constituency says that the decision resonated well with the people of Kenya, adding that it is one of the issues they will be speaking about during the planned mass action on 7th July.
“I am in support of the Judiciary because you can see how the Citizens are so happy and at least we will be talking about this during the Saba Saba as we will be holding our demonstrations.” Said Babu Owino.
The outspoken second term lawmaker also took the opportunity to dare the government to buy more teargas canisters, alleging that the opposition alliance have already bought rubber shoes and helmets as a way of countering the police who may attempt to distrust the planned demos on Friday.
“I will advise the government to buy more teargas, we have bought rubber shoes and helmets. We are ready and prepared for you.”
