State has canceled a church crusade organised by Pastors Ezekiel Odero and Pius Muiru in Machakos this weekend under unclear circumstances.
Popular preacher Pastor Ezekiel Odero has claimed that authorities have forced him to cancel his much publicised mega crusade scheduled to take place in Machakos county on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday June 4.
Hours after the state cancelled the planned crusade, televangelist Ezekiel Odero’s wife, Pastor Sarah has given her remarks on the development.
Pastor Sarah expressed confidence that New Life Prayer Centre and Church will resume operations soon, noting that ongoing investigations have affected not just her husband’s church, but several others as well.
On Saturday, June 3, Odero’s lawyers led by Danstan Omari, Cliff Ombeta, Sam Nyaberi, and Dan Osoro said the police withdrew the permit after they realised that their client will be the chief guest.
“We will not have prayer services at this church because it is good that we give the government enough time to investigate the ongoing issues besieging churches that have been reported on social media and news,” she said.
Through his lawyer Danstan Omari, Ezekiel said that a license that had been issued by Machakos county security team to Pastor Pius Muiru was recalled after it was noted that they would jointly preside over the preaching meeting.
Sarah also downplayed the ongoing investigations into her husband’s activities at the church, noting that it is nothing big.
After the preacher released posters announcing the cancellation of the crusade, Omari revealed the intrigues behind the revocation of the license for the much anticipated meeting.
“It is not only about New Life church but many other churches. To those on social media I urge you to continue praying hard,” Sarah added.
