Kanini Kega issued a statement in a press briefing convened in Nairobi that the Jubilee Party will hold an NDC no later than July 15, 2023.
“Jubilee Party to hold its NDC not later than 15th July 2023” acting Secretary General of Jubile Kanini said on behalf of the party’s National Executive Council.
Kanini Kega further distanced himself with the NDC that was held in Ngong’ Racecourse in Nairobi terming it a mere Political meeting. He advised members allied to Sabina Chege’s side to wait for communication from the party’s NEC on the way forward. Kanini said that the meeting convened by Uhuru was unconstitutional and therefore null and void.
“The meeting held in Ngong’ Racecourse today was not a Jubilee NDC but just another political rally” Kanini stated.
He further stated that the president has chosen the wrong side of history by failing to relinquish his position as Chair of Jubilee on 14th March as required by Chapter 6 of the constitution.
“It is unfortunate the former president has chosen to be on the wrong side of history by defying a legitimate decision of the party organ and ceased being a party leader on March 14, 2023” he said.
In an NDC convened by Uhuru, the party expelled rebel members including Kanini Kega and Sabina Chege.
