Veteran rapper Colonel Mustafa has broken his silence for the first time after friends and good Samaritans stepped up to help him financially. The saga of the artist got a splash in the light of social networks after a video was shared showing him doing hard work on a construction project.
In a meeting with online journalists, Mustafa revealed that he has been doing the job for more than a year without anyone noticing him because he was wearing a big sweater to cover his tattoos on his hands but also to hide his face by wearing a mask all the time.
“I did it very secretly. For more than a year, I tried very hard to remain anonymous by wearing a sweater to hide the tattoo as well as a mask. I tried so hard,” Mustafa said with tears in his eyes.
His fellow artist who is also a former Member of Parliament for Starehe Charles Njagua Kanyi aka Jaguar revealed that they have already raised nearly one million Kenyan shillings and next week fate will visit his mother who is suffering from cancer to offer condolences for her illness and hand over the burden to her.
When asked how he will organize himself so that he does not return to a financial crisis in the future, Mustafa clearly explained that he will be separating two accounts, one of his and the other of his mother to ensure that while he continues to attend to his mother’s treatment, his affairs will not be disrupted.
The first thing is to set aside two accounts for my mother and mine, any money I will be earning I will set aside an amount for her account and the rest for my account,” Mustafa said.
He also said that the money that will be helped will ensure that he has improved his mother’s life by finishing the construction that was stalled after cancer struck her.
