The ICT Chief Administrative Secretary Dennis Itumbi has been tasked with identifying the police officers who kidnapped and assaulted activist Boniface Mwangi in 2021.
He claimed that because Itumbi was now a government employee, he was now able to provide their names and provide an update on the status of the investigation.
Hey @OleItumbi, now that you’re in government, could you provide the names of the police officers that abducted you, along with the orders that led to their abduction, and have them held accountable?
In Mwangi’s opinion, the best way to put an end to police-related injustice is to hold those responsible for torturing the former digital strategist accountable.
He remarked, “Those responsible must be held accountable if we wish to stop extrajudicial executions and police kidnappings.
Itumbi was kidnapped in December 2021 when he was leaving a barbershop in Thindigua, Kiambu.
The location of his mobile phone signal was triangulated and traced to Kigwa in Ridgeways, but he was not discovered there.
He was discovered by a taxi driver hours later, hobbling and nude in the Lucky Summer neighborhood close to Kasarani stadium.
In addition to having injuries on the majority of his body parts, he had broken both of his legs and his left hand. His left eye was gushing blood.
His brother David said Itumbi told them the persons who abducted and beat him up claimed to be police officials. However, police denied being aware of the allegations.
Itumbi recalled the incident in December 2022 and said he had forgave his kidnappers.
