Aaron Cheruiyot who is the leader of Majority in the Senate and one of Kenya kwanza allies today tweeted on his twitter page that Save for Kenyans earning Ksh 500K +, there’s no increase in tax as we know it to anybody else. Housing fund is a saving that will create jobs & spur the local economy. The rest are economic retribution & admin measures to ensure everyone honours their bit.

The proposed taxes will inhibit growth, lead to more unemployment and economic anguish to the already struggling hustlers. We need to expand the economy not increase taxes.

From Kericho county on this housing levy you are wrong. As a civil servant we have been forced to pay 7.5% of basic salary towards retirement provident. Again another 3% yet my salary has been stagnant since 2018. then just take away all of our salaries.

Senator, we also have other things to tend to, which will automatically rise due to these unnecessary levies. Someone is misleading you guys. Why not wait until things are settled then you can bring those levies gradually? But ya nyumba is NO!
