CONTROVERSIAL PASTOR Paul Mackenzie, his wife Rhoda Mumbua Maweu and 16 other co-accused persons claim police denied them food while behind bars.

Contravarsial and cult pastor Paul Mackenzie has continued to spend some good time behind bars as police continue with their investigations into the hundreds of deaths associated with the preacher’s teachings and radicalization. Mackenzie alongside his wife and sixteen others are accused of several counts of murder among other charges.

With his case still ongoing, detectives has asked the court to allow them detain Mackenzie and his Co-accused for 90 days to allow them conclude investigations. This comes as a time the autopsy examination on the exhumed bodies continue with preliminary reports indicating that some of his members were killed.

Today, Mackenzie and his team accused the police officers holding them saying that they have been starving them by denying them food. The accused said that for the last coupe of days, they have not eaten saying that their health is becoming a concern.

In today’s ruling, Paul Mackenzie, his wife Rhoda Maweu and his 16 followers detained 5 more days; ruling on police request to hold them for 90 days set for May 10. The Shanzu court in Mombasa County will on May 10 deliver a ruling on a request by police to detain them for 90 days.

Elsewhere, Raila Odinga was today barred from accessing the Shakahola massacre site where he had gone together with other leaders to visit the site and condone with the affected families. Police manning the site however denied them access saying that the place is an active crime scene and that politicians and civilians are not allowed in.

This caused some commotion at the entrance but the situation was quickly contained and the leaders together with Raila left the scene though angry and agitated.
