With a strong message to all Kenyan people residing in prestigious local and regional locations, the Kenyan government broke its quiet today.

The Kenyan Government has “permanently banned all teachers in the from meting out corporal punishment to learners,” according to a statement made today, May 2, 2023, via Mr. Ezekiel Machogu, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Education.

All teachers are permanently prohibited from using physical punishment on students as a result of the Kenyan government’s declaration that it is illegal to use it in any type of educational setting.

Any teacher who is caught using corporal punishment on a student would face the full force of the law, according to the Kenyan government’s official position.
