It has been confirmed that 25 farmers from Siaya county were on Tuesday involved in a road accident in Elgeyo Marakwet county.

This has been confirmed by His Excellency the Siaya county governor James Orengo through his social media accounts on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred as the farmers were traveling to Marigat to learn about beekeeping.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities in the accident, and the injured were promptly evacuated to the hospital. The Siaya County Governor, James Orengo, expressed his relief at the news and thanked his colleague, Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Welsey Rotich, for mobilizing a response team to evacuate the injured farmers.

The Siaya County Government has been at the forefront of promoting beekeeping in the region, providing farmers with training and equipment to enhance their productivity. The benchmarking mission in Marigat was part of the government’s efforts to expose farmers to best practices and new technologies in beekeeping.
