The former Head of the Public Service Commission during President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta’s tenure, Joseph Kinyua, has spilled the beans as he revealed why President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta’s hands were tight during the government acquisition of Telkom company limited.

While speaking to the Financial and planning parliamentary committee, Joseph Kinyua revealed that the company was erroneously sold by the administration of President Mwai Emellio Kibaki and Raila Amollo Odinga.

According to Joseph Kinyua, National Intelligence Service (NIS) discovered that the company was sold out together with Kenya’s classified data that may jeopardize the national security of the country.

Therefore, he claimed that through the advice of National Security bosses, President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta directed the National Security Advisory Committee (NSAC) to authorize the purchase of Telkom company together with its subsidiary companies.

The 6 billion used to purchase Telkom was paid in cash by the Treasury through the subsidiary budget. He noted that the split of the Jubilee party would not have allowed the purchase of Telekom company because the majority of its MPs were inclined to President William Samoei Ruto. Therefore, the parliament did not approve the payment of 6 billion Kenya shillings.
