Azimio coalition has sent an urgent letter to the International Court of Criminal Justice (ICC) to launch an investigation into the current political situation in the country.
In their letter, Azimio expressed great concern for the people of the country, as well as for the integrity of the government.
They noted that there were indications that corruption was taking place and that a few people were taking advantage of the current political environment.
Azimio further requested the ICC to probe the political environment, ensure that the current government was compliant with international laws and regulations, and ensure the protection of basic human rights for the citizens of the country.
Azimio enlisted the help of prominent lawyer Paul Mwangi to assist them with their letter and other legal matters.
Mr. Mwangi applauded Azimio for their proactive effort to call attention to the plight of the citizens and noted that such matters should not be taken lightly.
They also requested that the ICC act quickly and decisively on Azimio’s behalf in order to protect the rights and security of the people in the country.
It is hopeful that Azimio’s urgent letter to the ICC will spark much needed investigations into the current political situation in the country and will help to restore justice and safety to the citizens.
