Today, 12th of April, Kenyan popular musician Kevin Bahati was officially declared to be a UDA party member after visiting the party’s offices. UDA officials including the party’s secretary general Cleophas Malalah welcomed the musician into the party.
Meanwhile, while delivering his speech to the media, the musician poked holes on his former party, the Jubilee party. Kevin Bahati claimed that he used to cry every morning during the 2022 elections because he faced humiliation from the Jubilee party officials.
According to Bahati, he has noted that he faced harassment after the Jubilee party officials urged him to withdraw his candidature for the Mathare parliamentary race, he added that the party’s officials also threatened to take back the party’s ticket from him.
“Nilikuwa nalia Sana nikiwa ile upande ingine. Kilasiku nikiamka naambiwa kuwa ticket nimenyanganywa, nikirudi hii side naambiwa ni stepdown, nikienda hii upande ingine naambiwa nitapewa kazi, sasa si mnaona ile Kazi nilipewa, ya kuimba ( I used to cry while I was on the other side (In Jubilee party). Everyday when I wake up am being told that they have taken the ticket back, when I turn to this side am told to step down and when I move to the other side am told that I will be given a job, you know the job that they gave me, for singing),” Bahati noted amidst laughter.
