The cabinet secretary of Agriculture CS Linturi had issued a statement saying that the Kenyan government has acquired lands in Zambia that’ll play a big part in soughting out the maize shortages in Kenya.
The unsuccessful gubernatorial aspirant said that agricultural production in regards to the inputs and the climate Zambia was the ideal territory and the government of Kenya had prepared all the necessary measures to push up the deal.
The same sentiments were echoed by President William Ruto economic advisor David Ndii whom said that investing in Zambia was the better solution for Kenya but as short term necessary solution that need to be inculcated.
As this was relayed to kenyans, the Zambian government has refuted the statements by the Kenyan counterparts on the importation of maize.
The Zambian finance minister said that no such things have been agreed and their country is also grappling with the same problems.
He went ahead to say that the neighbouring countries have also expressed the same problems Zambian is facing thus it’ll be difficult for the Kenyan government to contact Zambian farmers in contractual farming.
