CS Aisha Jumwa was anong other dignitaries who were invited to attend musician Akothee’s wedding in Nairobi on Monday, 10th.
During the wedding, CS Jumwa gifted Akothee a money necklace which triggered a series of mixed reactions from Kenyans.
The money necklace gifted to Akothee by CS Jumwa at the wedding was made of Ksh 1000 notes estimated to total to Ksh 100,000.
The cash necklace, which was made up of crisp Ksh 1,000 notes, was draped around Akothee’s neck during the reception. The gift sparked wild cheers and applause from the wedding guests, who were amazed by the generous gesture.
Prof Makau Mutua has reacted to the money necklace, gifted to Akothee by CS Jumwa tagging the move a huge shame.
Mutua has questioned the significance of the money necklace, claiming that the society has become so callous, decrepit and immoral.
“What’s the significance of a “money necklace?” Has our society become so callous, decrepit, and immoral? A huge shame!” Makau Mutua said.
