Kiswahili news anchor on NTV, Lofty Matambo and Fridah Mwaka who often call each other on air as ‘my twin’ have for the first time talked about their relationship.The two who were among the people who showed up to witness MCA Tricky’s big comedy show called ‘Tricky Comedy Circuit’ explained the concept in the heads of the television viewers that they are lovers.However, it was not easy for them to make it clear whether they are really lovers or not, but in one way or another, they dismissed the concept asking the gossipers who aim to uncover the truth about their relationship to “sweep for them” first.”The closeness of the two of you is such that people say you are attractive to the point that others suspect that you are in a romantic relationship like this, is it true?” one blogger asked.Matambo avoided the question pointing to Mwaka who replied saying;
“But I have a question for you, what is the problem with being close, you yourselves are happy with our closeness.Fridah Mwaka answered as they grunted in turn with Matambo between laughs.
Matambo opened up about why he decided to attend Tricky’s event and how close they are where he said they knew each other in those days working at the same radio station, on different shifts.
Although the two appeared in Islamic clothes, they denied that they are not Muslims but Christians, but they said that dressing like that is to show that they are fasting in the holy month of Ramadan with their friends, fans and colleagues who are fasting in the holy month.
The closeness of the two has been compared to that of the couple Rashid Abdalla and Lulu Hassan who also do a Swahili news program on Citizen TV.
