A few days before Azimio supporters go to the streets again, some politicians have come out to call for talks between president William Ruto and the former prime minister Raila Odinga to address issues affecting common Kenyans.
Laikipia East member of parliament, Mwangi Kiunjuri, who also doubles as a close ally of president William Ruto seems to have given in to pressure after the Azimio leadership announced that demonstrations will be held twice per week.
Speaking in Laikipia, Kiunjuri admitted that most Kenyans are suffering due to increasing inflation that has led to high cost of living. Kiunjuri also noted that there are other underlying issues that require leaders from across the political divide to sit down and talk.
“Although I am not supporting the ongoing protests, there is a need for the president and Raila Odinga to sit down and find a solution to some issues facing the country. The truth is most Kenyans are suffering,” stated the MP.
The former Agriculture minister insisted that resources should follow people and therefore counties should get revenue depending with the population. He argued that some regions have been sidelined when it comes to sharing of resources.
The TSP party leader said that these issues can only be sorted when president Ruto and Raila Odinga agree to sit down. He noted that this will also help in calming the rising political temperatures in the country.
