Michael Kijana Wamalwa, the country’s eighth Vice President is considered one of the greatest politicians in the history of independent Kenya.
During his two-decades long political career, the late Vice President made a name for himself as a brave politician.

When the late President Mwai Kibaki opted to try his lucky again in the presidency, Wamalwa was the obvious choice for the Vice Presidency.
Though he served in the position for only eight months before his sudden death in 2003, the late VP left an indelible mark in Kenya’s politics.

Fast forward, his younger brother, Eugene Wamalwa is following his footsteps. After exiting the former President Uhuru Kenyatta adminstration where he served as Defence Cabinet Secretary, the former Saboti MP is the man to watch out.
As one of the key members of the Azimio la Umoja coalition, the former CS hopes to unseat President William Ruto in 2027 . Already, he has declared his bid for the presidency.
His late brother had used the opposition route to get to government in 2003. Will the younger Wamalwa make it to the top using the same approach?
