Today the Azimio team finally staged a massive protest in the city after thousands of protesters stormed the city to decry the high cost of living. During the early hours of the morning, the streets were clear with the presence of police officers roaming the streets to keep at bay the protesters who were sneaking into the city.
Few hours after 3, Raila Odinga and his entire team appeared form Serena Hotels where they have been strategizing on the way forward. As they were making their way out, the Azimio convoy were stopped by the police who unleased water cannons to disburse them.
The convoy however managed to make it’s way to the City and snaked it’s way to Kamukunji before heading to Eastleigh. Whole on its way, Azimio spokesperson Prof Makau Mutua reported that the car that Raila Odinga was in was attacked as the windscreen broken. He went ahead to allege that a bullet was lodged at their car hitting the car that Raila Odinga was riding in.
“We are now under direct attack by water cannon trucks and tear gas. Our windscreen has been badly damaged. A bullet has hit our vehicle in which Baba @RailaOdinga and are riding.” Professor Makau Mutua posted.
The Azimio entourage finally headed to Mathare estate in Nairobi where Raila made his five demands to Ruto saying that unless they are met, they will be protesting every Monday.
