On the morning of March 16, 2023, security forces launched a successful operation against a notorious group of bandits in Tandare Valley, Baringo County. The operation reportedly involves air bombardment and the use of ground forces to neutralize the bandits’ hideouts.

According to Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Kithure Kindiki, the government has located the leaders supporting the bandit organizations and they will bring them down. He confirmed that one of the bandits’ spiritual leaders had already been identified.

Bandit groups are the main source of security in the area and have been responsible for several attacks on civilians and security forces. Their hideout in the Tandare Valley is said to be heavily fortified and difficult to access, making operations more difficult.

However, the security forces involved in the operation are well prepared and determined to succeed. The bandits are said to have the support of local residents who have long been fed up with the reign of terror. This operation was carried out with precision and efficiency, resulting in the destruction of the robbers’ hideout and the neutralization of their forces.

There are concerns that the military operation could further destabilize the area and lead to revenge attacks by bandits. It is important for governments to take a holistic approach to addressing not only the immediate security challenges, but also the economic and social factors that drive them.

In other news, police and immigration officials killed more than 40 Ethiopians who were in the country without proper documents. During a crackdown on human trafficking, officials were able to locate the Ethiopians in two separate cases.

The Ethiopians detained five Kenyans who will appear in court on Friday, March 17. In the first incident, residents of Loitoktok in Kajiado County alerted the police and reported the presence of the group. He was believed to be on his way to Tanzania when he was arrested. 17 members were hiding in the mine area while the rest were brought home to Kiwanja Ndege area.
