Cleophas Malala now says his first role as UDA secretary-general will be opening the party’s office in Kisumu city on Saturday.

The ex Kakamega Senator was appointed to the position acting as interim boss on Monday in new changes by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

This came days after President Ruto’s UDA will start the process to have its affiliates in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance folded into one formidable force ahead of the 2027 elections.

He succeeded Veronica Maina following her nomination to the Senate.

The former lawmaker said as of now, Kisumu county has 5,325 registered UDA members.

“We shall not go into 2027 before we organise ourselves better and this is a sign that President Ruto plans his politics under one colour,” Mr Malala said.

Malala said the party has complied with the Registrar of Political Parties and IEBC regulations.

He added that he will spearhead the talks to reach out to all Kenya Kwanza partners and other like-minded parties to come together and support the President.

“We are starting this weekend, my first assignment on Saturday will be to go and meet the 5,000 registered members of Kisumu county and I will be opening the UDA office in Kisumu town,” he said.
