Four days after the United Democratic Alliance party, through former secretary general Veronica Maina revealed its plan to conduct grassroot elections in August, their ODM counterparts have not been left behind as Raila summoned senior party officials drawn from the 47 counties to consolidate trust and support ahead of nationwide party polls.

According to ODM party chairman John Mbadi, all the party’s coordinating committee chairs availed themselves to deliberate on ways of strengthening the party at the grassroots level and also to evaluate their performance on the last election. Besides that, the official also discussed the way forward with regards to the ongoing people’s ‘Baraza’s’ which has since attracted condemnation from the Kenya Kwanza government.

“Meeting county coordinating committee chairs from the 47 counties together with the party leader to discuss on strengthening the party at the grassroots, post mortem on the last election, way forward on peoples’ baraza across the country among other issues.” Mbadi revealed

One of the strategies which was arrived at with the aim of strengthening the party was that the party chairman hold County meetings frequently in order to augment they are political base as they prepare for the grassroot elections.

“….it was agreed that the party chair hold county meetings to strengthen the party as we prepare for grassroots elections.” He added.

Raila odinga’s 14-day ultimatum to the Kenya Kwanza government to address the biting cost of living and open servers used in the 2022 general elections continues to draw nearer and nearer. It however remains unknown whether the Azimio team will make real their threats of calling for mass action against the Kenya Kwanza regime.
