Political Expert Professor Herman Manyora now says that President William Ruto has the power to reduce the cost of living and increased prices of basic commodities by removing taxes in some of the commodities, and by also re-introducing subsidies.
Through his You Tube Channel on Saturday, Manyora implored upon the president and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua to listen to him, saying that the country is feeling the political heat at a time when Kenyans are facing the hard economic times.
He argued that the political statements by Ruto that ‘Azimio will get tired of their rallies,’ and Gachagua’s,’ we are not Cerelac babies, but maumau,’ as some of the statements that might push the opposition to the end and eventually conduct the mass action as threatened by the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
“Even before we see the Azimio mass action there is already tension in the country, and I invite the president to do everything in his power to reduce the tension. He and Gachagua should start by playing good politics.”
“Do not dismiss the mass action, or say you are not cerelac babies, or you are sons of maumau, or I cannot be intimidated, this is not the time for such, but for the country to come together and the president should show he is the bigger brother. It is not time to engage in cheap politics and chest thumbing or even impunity.”
“Raila’s ultimatum of 14 days might lead to situations that are not desirable, and according to me, this is not the time the government should show its strong. I hope the president listens to me, that he should sit down with the opposition. Raila and the president should look out for this country.”
