For the past few weeks, residents of Baringo, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Samburu, Turkana and other bandit zone areas have been living in fear. The reason for this is that they don’t know what to expect from the harsh situation. They are afraid that if they may be killed by bandits who have been fearlessly killing innocent people and stealing livestock. This has prompted the government to use it’s might in a bid meant to flush out bandits who have been causing trouble to the civilians.
The military has also deployed additional resources including armored vehicles towards these areas where they are engaged in monitoring operations against suspected bandits, who are believed to be behind these attacks on innocent civilians including women and children. Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) and General Service Unit (GSU) are in these affected areas including Samburu in full force and are expected to reacquire illegally owned arms, curb the insecurities and neutralise the killer bandits.
According to news update we have just received with us, atleast 5 people have been killed, several others injured and herds of livestock stolen after dozens of bandits who were armed raided Samburu County.
