Owen Mwatia popularly known as Daddy Owen is a Kenyan contemporary Christian music (CCM) artist and songwriter from Kakamega, Kenya. Owen is the brother to Kenyan Award-winning gospel musician Rufftone. He is a member of the Kenya Assemblies of God Church, Buru Buru, Nairobi and is signed to Beats & Blessings family. Daddy Owen is now married to Farida Wambui.
Over a time now Daddy Owen has not released any song together with other gospel artists. On Sunday the president of comedy in Africa Eric Omondi attacked him with other Kenyan gospel artists for what he said the gospel is failing because of them. He said they should rise up to where they were and also urged those who have entered into secular music to repent and return to gospel.
Willy Paul replied to Eric by saying that they are chasing the bag and that’s why he turned from gospel to secular.
Minutes ago Daddy Owen has replied saying that he won’t make any excuses but he accepts the positive critism from Eric Omondi for his declaration to the gospel industry. He went on and said that people need to understand that the gospel ministry is mostly inspired by God.
