Popular Kikuyu musician Ben Githae has reacted after Trade and Investment Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria defended him after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua taunted him for supporting Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Party during last year’s general election.
Speaking during the burial of Kuria’s sister in Gatundu, Gachagua said Githae was among Kikuyu musicians who abandoned President William Ruto’s camp for Azimio after they were allegedly offered money.
The DP accused the ‘Tano Tena’ hitmaker of misleading Raila Odinga into believing he would garner votes from the Mount Kenya region saying he should also confess for aiming at taking the Kikuyu community in the wrong direction.
“Ben Githae you must confess. You went round lying Mzee that he would get votes from this region yet you knew very well that was impossible. You thought that people loved you so much that you could change their decision. All the musicians must realize that their fans love their talent and they should not misuse it to force unpopular things to them,” Gachagua stated. Watch the VIDEO here.
But CS Kuria defended Githae and all the musicians who endorsed Raila saying they should not be admonished but should be guided so they can make the right judgment in the future.
In a Facebook post on Monday night, the musician said he was encouraged by Kuria’s message that one can not change his past but has an opportunity to determine his future.
“Good message today for me from CS Moses Kuria. ‘Good angel has a past and bad devil has a future’. Lord God the plans that you have for are of good to give me hope and a bright future. Ndinawe Ngai ndingiurira (Without you God I can’t be forsaken),” Githae posted.
