Kisii County Governor Hon Simba Arati today November 30th 2022 paid a courtesy call to President William Samoei Ruto at Statehouse.
In his visit the Governor discussed establishment of a Medical City under the Kenya UK Health Alliance and the Sustainable Urban Economic Development programs in Kisii County. The facility will train our healthcare workforce and support other medical schools starting with Kisii University and three other universities in the Lake Region Economic Bloc: Maseno, Masinde, and Egerton.
Arati was one of the leaders from Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party whp heavily criticised William Ruto and rubbished his 2022 statehouse bid. He at some point warned Ruto that he will never be the president of Kenya. His visit however comes a few days after he publicly stated taht he is now ready to work with President William Ruto for the sake of development and the common welfare of the residents.
“Competitive politics is behind us now, it is time to work for our people. Ruto is our president now,” said the ODM governor.
In the August 9th Polls, Despite the strong lineup of popular political leaders keen on clinching the seat, Arati defied all odds to clinch the seat by landslide, garnering a whopping 270,928 votes against seven competitors including current Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Education Hon Ezekiel Machogu who was contesting on President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA). However in the race Machogu only finished second with 82,104 votes.
In months leading to his win, the man ran a campaign that confounded both friend and foe, completely changing the dynamics of Kisii politics.
