Well, Ms. Maggie Wazome is the woman who provides the well-known voice that has been in our mobile phones for long period.
The phrase “mteja,” which Ms. Wazome used in her message, has long become common in Kenyan conversations and is a frequently used colloquial expression for being offline.
The voice was reportedly recorded in 2000 after Ms. Wazome defeated 16 other voice actors who had gone to Mr. Andrew Crawford’s studio to try their luck.
Since then, she has gained popularity in Kenya, where most people are familiar with her.
After being contacted by KBC to read the lines, Maggy was given the position. She was called by the in-charge commercial producer at the time, one Andrew Crawford.
