Veteran female reggae emcee Jahmby Koikai was elated after meeting former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko at Captains Lounge along Mombasa Road on Wednesday night. Jahmby was hosting a reggae event at the popular club alongside Selector Technix when she was told that there was high profile politician who wanted to talk to her.
When she went to the club’s VIP section, she met Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko. Sonko told her that he has been her diehard fan for a long time and always listens to her mixes. He reminisced how Jahmby’s mixes used to play in his flashy matatus, something that humbled her.
Jahmby is without a doubt one of the most highly sought-after female reggae emcees in the country. She has been in the reggae showbiz industry for almost two decades.
She has managed to break barriers in the cut-throat industry mostly dominated by men. In 2019, she took a break for more than a year and flew to the US for treatment.
She was admitted at the Center for Endometriosis Care for advanced treatment after she was diagnosed with Stage four endometriosis and needed to undergo a lifesaving surgery. She returned to the county after the successful surgery and is now back in the game doing what she does best.
