Marjorie Phyllis Oludhe Macgoye was a Kenyan author and today is her 94th birthday. She is often reffered to Kenyan Literature as she was among the first writers in this country. Google recognizes her today for being a legendary writer and also a literature teacher.

She moved to Kenya as an immigrant during the season when state of emergency was declared in the Country. She had come as a missionary book seller at the CMS bookshop in Nairobi and that is when she started participating in literacy projects for Africans.
One of the unique thing happened and Macgoye met her luo husband in the prisons and they moved to western region to settle as a family. She blended so well with his extended family and that is how she got to learn their language. She was a great mother and good family member.
She was lucky enough to get another job in Tanzania where she moved with her children and left the husband behind. she later came back to Kenya and became the manager of Sj Moore Bookshop. she later concentrated in writing until her death on 1st December 2015. She will be forever remembered by google and Kenya and the world at large.
