Celebrities, musicians, and many more artists of the decade are busy looking to become successful and famous. In their minds they are after fame and are ready to do anything so as to get it. Mostly for Kenyan artists and celebrities, fame is more of social networks than creativity.
Clout Chasing has been the norm in the music industry in Kenya. All sorts of clout Chasing have been employed to attract fans. In recent days we saw video vixen and Socialite Vera Sidika saying that she had done a surgery to change her figure and later denied the claims. Another set of artists (Akorino) lied that they shared the same girl on one bed in order to get high subscribers on youtube which failed.
Eric Omond, the king of comedy Kenya has been trending on all social media platforms in his fight to have 75% of Kenyan music being played by Kenyan TV and Radio stations. Though the fight has not been welcomed by the various artists such as Khaligraph and Bien.
In a Tv interview at NTV, during the Friday evening show The Trend, Eric Omondi urged artists to do the clout Chasing if they only had a goal. He added that the clout Chasing helps in attracting the attention of fans hence improving the performance of your videos on youtube or gets you more followers on social media platforms such as Instagram.
