A number of Kiambu Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have pleaded with President William Ruto to restrain Rigathi Gachagua, the UDA Secretary General, and Veronica Maina in order to cease the dictatorship and threats.
The furious county assembly members, led by Nelson Munga of Ndeiya Ward, asserted that Rigathi Gachagua, the vice president, was involved in the scheme by pressing them to back an unpopular candidate. They charged the Secretary General of the UDA party with interfering with the work of the county assembly by forcing his party’s leadership on them.
They implored with President William Ruto to intervene and stop party officials who were intent to strangle democracy while speaking to the media in front of the County Assembly buildings. Their reaction was spurred by two letters from the Secretary General, both dated September 26 and 27, 2022, which said that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party had duly nominated House leadership.
