They say God’s timing is the best. This is the case for one Crystal Asige. She is a visually impaired woman who has been famous for her great voice. She has been a member of Sol generation that is owned by Sauti Sol where she rose from being a vocalist to producing her won songs.
Earlier this year, she was fronted by ODM party for nomination into the assembly. Her nomination was dependent on a number of factors including how many seats ODM would clinch. Today however she can smile as she has been gazetted as a new senator set to represent people with disabilities under the ODM party.
She is also set to add on the female numbers in the parliament which is also one of the reasons why IEBC allows parties to submit names for consideration. It is a requirement in Kenya for 2/3 gender rule and one of the ways to achieve this is by prioritizing women during nominations. Congratulations Asige!
