Makunda had to endure losses in 2019 at the hands of persistent thieves who were able to break into his compound and take his possessions, notably chicken.
When Lazaro Inyani, the village’s witchdoctor, learned of Makunda’s predicament, he saw an opportunity for a win-win situation that would allow him to make money and help Makunda catch the famed robbers.
To put an end to the widespread property theft and damage, Nyani vowed to administer some herbal medication in Makunda’s homestead. By the time he is done, he promised Makunda, anyone trying to steal from him will be stuck inside the enclosure until he finds him.
Makunda accepted the witch doctor’s offer after being persuaded, and on August 7, 2019, he transferred Ksh 10,000 as a down payment to his M-Pesa line. He sent the second instalment of Ksh 5,000 on August 12 and the final Ksh15,000 on August 29 of that same year.
The miraculous plant, which was in the shape of powder and leaves, was given to Makunda by Inyani. He scattered some around his property and waited for the magic to truly work.
However, he was shocked to see that criminals carried on carelessly stealing his belongings. For this reason, Makunda sued Inyani in an effort to get his KSh30,000 back.
