I spoke to L-Jay Maasai yesterday. The musician was partly raised in Maasai land Narok and attended Moi Primary School, Narok, then joined Light Academy, Ngong and finished his secondary education at Millenium Academy in Nairobi.
L-Jay spoke passionately about the man who raised him, his late grandfather who passed on last week. And who was that man? Hassan Ole Kamwaro, the former TLB chairman.

Hassan Ole Kamwaro
For those who didnât know, his real names are James Lekishon Ole Kamwaro. Notice the last name, yep, the gospel musicians last names are similar to his late grandfatherâs.
The musician who was preparing for the funeral of his grandpa was kind enough to reminisce about him to us. He mused that he considered his grandpa to be more his dad than his grandfather, who had also taught him to drive.

He also said that the former TLB chairman was an early riser. And when I say early I mean really Eaaarrrrllllly!
âMy grandfather used to wake up at 3 a.m after his sleep ended. He used to sleep for 4 hours.
âIt is so painfulâ World champion Julius Yego mourns death of his grandfather
And what did he do when he woke up so early? L-Jay said that Kamwaro used to watch CNN to pass the time. The fact that he used to wake up that early made him the de facto alarm clock.

L-Jay confessed that he would wake them up when they asked him to and that he ensured that they were always on time and disciplined.
