Popular Kikuyu musician Kimani wa Turacco has mocked ODM leader Raila Odinga saying he is very old and unfit to lead the country.

The artist, who hails from the same village with President Uhuru Kenyatta, said Raila, who is 77 years old, should quit active politics and head to retirement.

The controversial musician made the remarks amid claims by the Deputy President William Ruto that the handshake between Uhuru and Raila was to chart the path to the former prime minister’s exit from active politics.

In an interview with Voice of America (VOA) on Friday, the DP said the President told him had nothing to do with his succession but was to facilitate Raila’s retirement.

Last month, Ruto claimed there was a group of powerful individuals who were taking advantage of Raila’s advanced age and that is why they were pushing him to vie for the presidency so they can rule behind the back door.

“Those who are fronting the old man are known very well. He cannot manage them. The country will be safe in Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders, who understand what hustlers are facing at the grass-roots,” the DP said.

“Those who say I am old, am I the age of their mother or father? They should not be bothered by someone’s age. Consider someone’s reasoning and agenda, not the age. I will retire when I want and after accomplishing my dream,” he said in the past.
