Last weekend, a video of a lady screaming inside a speeding car went viral on social media platforms.
The video sparked suspicion that the lady that was seen around Kenyatta University was being kidnapped.
The National Police Service yesterday released a statement, saying the incident was not kidnapping, but a disagreement between the couple.
The couple that had gotten into a disagreement after having a social outing within Nairobi city later went to report the matter at a police station.
“The lady wanted to alight and go home, whilst the boyfriend insisted on spending the evening together. Yesterday after reconciliation, the couple reported to the police purposely to withdraw the matter from police action,” a police statement read.
They further informed the public that the driver of the vehicle was taken to court for breaking traffic rules and endangering the life of the lady.
“James Maina Kibe pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless driving contrary to section 47 of the Traffic Act, CAP 403 Laws of Kenya. He was fined Kshs 70,000 and his driving license was suspended.”
