Five robbery suspects have escaped from Limuru Police Station in Kiambu County after overpowering police officers during a cell transfer.

According to a report by TV47 Digital on November 5, 2026, the suspects escaped from custody after they overpowered the officers who were transferring them from one cell to another.

“Five robbery suspects have escaped from Limuru Police Station, Kiambu County after overpowering police officers during a cell transfer. A manhunt has been launched to re-arrest them,” TV47 Digital reported.

The incident has raised serious concerns about security and handling of suspects in police custody at the station.

Police say the five suspects were being held at the station in connection with robbery cases when the escape happened.

During the transfer, the suspects reportedly overpowered the officers on duty and fled from the station before reinforcement could arrive.

Following the escape, police in Limuru and across Kiambu County launched a manhunt to re-arrest the suspects.

Officers have intensified patrols and checkpoints in Limuru town and surrounding areas, including Tigoni, Ndeiya, and along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons to the nearest police station.

Police have also warned members of the public not to confront the suspects, who are considered dangerous, but to immediately alert security officers.

The National Police Service is expected to investigate the circumstances under which the suspects escaped, including whether there was negligence or collusion by officers on duty.

The escape has sparked concern among residents of Limuru, who fear the suspects could commit more crimes while at large.

Police say investigations are ongoing and the manhunt to re-arrest the five robbery suspects continues.
