Chandaria

Renowned Kenyan billionaire and philanthropist Manu Chandaria has made a major contribution to the education sector after donating KSh 40 million to Amref International University, supporting the development of two important facilities at the institution.

The generous contribution, made through the Chandaria Foundation, has funded the construction of a modern academic centre and an auditorium at the university, which is located at Northlands City, a development associated with the Kenyatta family.

The university officially unveiled the two facilities on Wednesday, November 4, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to strengthen health sciences education in Kenya and across Africa.

In a statement announcing the development, AMIU recognised Chandaria’s contribution as an investment in the future of healthcare education and the training of upcoming professionals.

The two facilities have been named the Chandaria Academic Centre and the Chandaria Auditorium in recognition of the philanthropist’s support.

According to the university, the donation reflects a shared commitment between the institution and the Chandaria Foundation to improve learning environments and strengthen the training of the next generation of health professionals.

The new facilities are expected to provide students and lecturers with better spaces for academic activities, collaboration and other educational engagements.

Chandaria, one of Kenya’s most respected industrialists and philanthropists, has maintained a long history of supporting initiatives in education, healthcare and community development.

His latest contribution further demonstrates his commitment to supporting institutions that play an important role in developing human capital and improving communities.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by university officials, colleagues and other guests who joined the veteran businessman in celebrating the completion of the facilities.

The development also places the spotlight on Northlands City, a major development associated with the Kenyatta family, which continues to attract attention through investments and institutional projects.

For Amref International University, the new facilities represent an important step towards providing quality education and preparing skilled healthcare professionals for Kenya and the wider African continent.
