Tony Njoroge Munene was one of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s closest friends during their school years at St Mary’s School. The two developed a close friendship after joining the institution in Standard 3.
According to Uhuru Kenyatta, he and Munene joined St Mary’s School in the same year and were both admitted to Standard 3B. This meant they shared the same classroom from the time they entered the school.
Their friendship continued as they progressed through their studies, with the two remaining in the same class throughout their time together at the institution.
Uhuru and Munene maintained their close relationship until they sat for the Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) examinations in Standard 7.
Their shared school experience at St Mary’s School formed the foundation of a friendship that lasted throughout their primary education.
Munene is remembered as one of Uhuru’s closest school friends, having spent several years in the same class with the former head of state. Their association began in Standard 3B and continued until they completed their primary education through the CPE examinations in Standard 7.
