Chaos has briefly erupted at Migwena Cultural and Sports Ground in Bondo after rowdy youths have hurled stones and sticks across the venue during the first anniversary memorial service.
The sudden disruption has caused momentary panic among mourners gathered in Siaya County to honor the late statesman.
Witnesses have reported that aggressive individuals have thrown projectiles over tents and seating pavilions, forcing attendees to duck for cover as the formal program has ground to a sudden halt.
In response to the escalating danger, law enforcement officers and security personnel have swung into immediate action to restore order across the stadium.
Armed police officers have moved decisively to push back the unruly crowds, forming strong defensive barriers around the main stage and VIP seating areas.
Their swift intervention has effectively quelled the violence, neutralized the stone-throwing perpetrators, and prevented further escalation, allowing anxious mourners to regain composure within the venue.
The chaotic scene has unfolded alongside lingering unrest over the absence of senior party figures.
Eager supporters have earlier broken into persistent chants demanding Dr. Oburu Odinga’s whereabouts, prompting Mama Ida Odinga and master of ceremonies Otiende Amollo to address the stadium directly.
Family members have reassured the public that Dr. Oburu has stayed away following explicit medical instructions requiring bed rest.
Despite the temporary commotion, security forces have successfully re-established total control throughout the venue perimeters.
High-profile guests, including Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and Kisii Governor Simba Arati, have remained safe on the main dais under heavy protection.
Following the restoration of peace, organizers have resumed the commemorative service, ensuring the historic tribute has continued in a secure and dignified environment.
